Joint Agents, Savills Hotels & Leisure and REA Gunne Property have been appointed as selling agents in the relaunch of the Park Hotel & Golf Course in Dundalk, Co Louth. The agents were appointed by Padraic Monaghan, Receiver, KPMG. 

The property opened in 2004 as a 3 Star hotel which initially traded under the ‘Park Inn’ brand. The location is prime with the site fronting the M1 motorway and the Armagh Road, it is only 2kms north of Dundalk town centre. 

The hotel is fully fitted with 80 spacious bedrooms and 4 suites all with magnificent views of the surrounding countryside and set against the backdrop of the Cooley Mountains synonymous with the famous Cooley Distillery.

The ground floor facilities are extensive with a full service offering according to James Wrenn and Denis O’Donoghue, Savills who are handling the sale. This includes a bar, restaurant, function room, meeting rooms and conference facilities along with a Leisure Centre with a state of the art gym and a 20m swimming pool, steam room and sauna. A nightclub operated from the premises in its earlier years and the liquor licence remains in place. The property is currently closed for business in late 2010. 

The site is extensive and is set on 96 acres of high quality free draining land. Eighty two acres formerly accommodated an 18 hole par 72 golf course. There is potential to reopen the course, but its more immediate potential may be to revert to a farming enterprise. Joint agent Michael Gunne advises that good quality agricultural land in this particular area is in strong demand, with parcels regularly fetching over €10,000 per acre. 

The agents are now guiding the property on the market at €1.75m for the entire but advise that the hotel and the lands could be sold separately.
