Savills Hotels & Leisure Sell the Cork International Airport Hotel

On behalf of Paul McCann, Receiver, of Grant Thornton, appointed by Bank of Scotland plc, Savills Hotels & Leisure are delighted to announce the sale of Cork International Airport Hotel.

This property was marketed by Savills on 20th June 2012 with a guide price of €4.75m and it went Sale Agreed in July 2012 in excess of that guide price. This sale has now completed.

This prime 4 star hotel opened in July 2007 and is located at Cork International Airport, within walking distance of the Airport Terminal.

The hotel comprises 145 luxurious bedrooms, lounge, bar, restaurants, sandwich bar and bakery. There are extensive conference and banqueting facilities which can cater for up to 320 people and 10 meeting rooms. Other unique features include a Pullman Lounge with 10 first class airplane style seats and a “hairport” hair salon.

The property also has extensive parking and a basement that offers potential for further developing the business.

Over a four week high-profile marketing campaign, Savills Hotels & Leisure managed over 100 domestic and international enquiries and secured a strong international purchaser for the Cork International Airport Hotel. The new owner plans to retain Tifco Hotel Group as the Hotel Operator. Tifco have successfully managed the hotel since 2009.

According to Tom Barrett of Savills; “This is an important sale for the Irish hotel industry and is a vote of confidence for the Cork economy. It demonstrates that there is strong demand for good hotel properties and international investors are buying outside of Dublin.”
