Savills, on behalf of the Joint Administrators of WG Mitchell (Scotland) Ltd, has sold the freehold interest in the New Northumbria Hotel in Newcastle upon Tyne to a private buyer for in excess of £6.5 million.

The hotel, which is let to a local operator, is prominently situated along Osborne Road in Jesmond and features 57 en suite bedrooms and a large food and beverage offering including two restaurants.

Iain Lock, Director at Savills, comments: "We are very pleased to have secured this transaction at a favourable price for our client on an asset with unusual investment circumstances."

The buyer was represented by Christie Co.
