Most development in Barnes and East Sheen is on a smaller scale than neighbouring areas such as Hammersmith and Putney. However, one development in the area has made recent news.

The Stag Brewery is a prominent 21.2 acre site located on the banks of the Thames. Situated between Barnes and East Sheen, and across the river from Chiswick, it is positioned firmly in prime south west London.

Although currently at the pre-planning stage, it has the potential for around 850 homes as well as further mixed uses making it an extensive new waterside development. The site attracted the attention of Singaporean developer, Reselton, who bought it for £158m at the end of 2015.

A local comparison, albeit on a smaller scale is The Harrods Village in Barnes. Completed in 2000 it has become a much sought-after riverside development. Most of the development was converted from a former Harrods warehouse and it includes 250 apartments and penthouses.

Harrods Village put the area on the map for waterside living in south west London, appealing to a wide number of buyers and tenants from all over the world. As the development at Stag Brewery comes forward, we expect to see a similar level of demand.
