The warehouse offers 21,700 sq m of floor space for small refrigerated and perishable products and also has 1,455 sq m of office space. Picnic will take up the full warehouse, which was previously occupied by Aldi.
Due to a further optimization of its distribution network, the distribution center in Zaandam was no longer in use by Aldi and therefore available for rent. Picnic, one of the fastest growing online supermarkets in the Netherlands, will focus on serving customers in the North-Holland region from this new location. From Zaandam they will serve part of Amsterdam but also Haarlem, Zaanstad, Alkmaar and Purmerend. This new DC will create approximately 500 jobs in Zaandam.
