Savills awarded British Chamber of Commerce's British Investment in Spain Award

Savills Aguirre Newman has been awarded the ‘British Investment in Spain’ award by the British Chamber of Commerce in Spain in recognition of British companies based in Spain whose investment has contributed to the dynamism of the Spanish economy and society.

The award is part of the UK-Spain Business Awards, organised by the British Embassy with the aim of recognising companies that strengthen trade and investment relations between the United Kingdom and Spain.

Savills, an international real estate consultancy, merged with Aguirre Newman, a leading Spanish consultancy firm, in 2017 to form a new leadership position in the real estate services industry, in a commitment to the Spanish real estate sector that the British Chamber of Commerce has sought to recognise.

Stephen Newman, executive vice president of Savills Aguirre Newman, commented: "This award makes us particularly proud of the recognition of the achievements we have made in bringing both companies together to strengthen and develop our services in a changing world. Our values and vision of the future, with a team of professionals who always give the best of themselves and in permanent collaboration, have multiplied our capacity to provide solutions to any real estate issue, both in the UK and in Spain, as well as on a global level.

“We are in a sector which is in full evolution, where the focus on sustainability, technology and people allows us to stand as a point of reference thanks to the exchange of knowledge and experience across different markets, through innovative solutions.”

James Sparrow, CEO UK and EMEA, added: “The real estate market in Spain has gone from strength-to-strength over the past few years, as too has the relationship the country has with the UK. Our acquisition of Aguirre Newman in 2017 has allowed us to establish a team of 500 people, meaning that we are able to highlight Spain as one of our best performing businesses on an international basis whilst providing an opportunity for the Spanish business to be integrating on a global platform with clients and investors – all providing a significant economic benefit to the Savills Group, but also Savills Spain and Spain itself.”

The awards ceremony was held at the Madrid Stock Exchange and was attended by the British Ambassador to Spain, Hugh Elliot, and the United Kingdom's High Representative for Trade in Europe, Andrew Mitchell.
