Savills Energy, Procurement & Sustainability team has signed a two-year deal with The Doyle Collection to procure 100% renewable energy for their portfolio of 7 hotels across Ireland and the UK and their London and Dublin head offices. For the UK hotels, green gas has also been procured with Renewable Energy Guarantees of Origin (REGO) certificates from the supplier.
From the perspective of The Doyle Collection, the procurement of electricity from 100% renewable sources means that the most significant proportion of their energy has been sourced sustainably, thereby reducing the hotel collection’s emissions substantially without compromising on cost.
The Doyle Collection will be collaborating with Savills Energy, Procurement & Sustainability team over the next 2 years to drive energy & water efficiency through a program involving real time monitoring of consumption with interactive alerts to detect unusual patterns in conjunction with regular analysis and consultation with hotel specific stakeholders to implement improvements. In addition, the Savills and Doyle Collection teams aim to tackle issues around sustainable cleaning methods, waste management and single use plastics.
The Doyle Collection owns and operate 7 hotels across Ireland and the UK, including – The Westbury and The Croke Park in Dublin, and The River Lee in Cork.
Savills Energy, Procurement & Sustainability division was established in 2016, to provide energy procurement and consultancy services for commercial, retail and private rental sector (PRS) properties throughout the island of Ireland.
The team of experienced consultants help landlords and tenants alike address their electricity costs by driving efficiency and sensibility procuring 100% renewable electricity with the most competitive deals on the wholesale electricity market.
In addition, through smart metering, clients can manage their electricity consumption in real-time via Savills own online platform, SavIQ.
Sharyn McAndrew, Head of Savills Energy & Sustainability division commented:
“Since we launched this service in 2016, we have saved our clients in excess of €1.2 million and helped them to better manage their energy consumption. Savings aren’t just to be made reducing energy use. Reviewing metering strategies and tariffs can lead to optimised outcomes, which have saved our clients in excess of a further half a million euros to date.
Whilst cost reductions are great, we find many clients are approaching energy management from the perspective of mitigating their environmental impact. Using renewable energy as an easy, but impactful win, we can then work with our clients to develop their sustainability strategy with a drive towards carbon neutrality in line with, or before, the EU target of 2050.”
