KanAm Grund Group´s LEADING CITIES INVEST buys refurbished Mebes House in Berlin

KanAm Grund Group’s LEADING CITIES INVEST is adding a new core office product in Berlin to its portfolio.

Following extensive refurbishment, the open-ended real estate fund will acquire the only remaining listed building designed by architect Paul Mebes at Charlottenstrasse 82. The seller of the seven-storey Kontorhaus, which was built in 1913 in the classicist style, is Quest Investment GmbH. The previous tenant was Dexia Bank. A new anchor tenant is expected to move into the property in the ‘newspaper district’ in Q3 2021.

Savills previously advised on the sale of the property and acted on behalf of KanAm in this transaction.

J. Philipe Fischer, Director and Head of Berlin Office, Savills Germany, says: “Following the sale to Quest and the departure of the current tenant, the property is now being prepared for a new single tenant by undergoing full refurbishment and adding additional space. As a result, we were able to present KanAm with an exceptional premium asset in a prime location featuring a tenant with a strong credit rating.”
