Real estate services provider Savills is expanding its portfolio into the healthcare sector. In a new collaboration with healthcare experts D&S Healthcare, the firms have set themselves the objective of creating greater market transparency through their expertise in the property and healthcare sectors. “By working together, we can create synergies that do not currently exist in the market. While we as real estate experts view property as an asset class within the overall context, D&S Healthcare specialises in healthcare property and its development. With our extensive offering, we will be in a position to offer investors more in-depth advice in this hitherto opaque sector and to provide greater security,” says Andreas Wende, COO and Head of Investment Germany at Savills.

The ageing population requires an increasing volume and greater differentiation of senior housing from nursing homes and assisted living to alternative accommodation types such as residential communities. Owing to the rising demand, there is also increasing interest in healthcare property as a profitable investment, particularly from foreign investors. “In view of the supply shortage in the real estate sector, many purchasers are seeking to diversify their portfolios and regard healthcare property as an alternative that can provide a high yield. It is also all the more important to provide an overview of the market situation in our monthly reporting,” adds Wende.
