Milestone year for property auctions

Property auction levels picked up in 2013 as confidence returned to the market resulting is strong results, especially within the M25.

2013 was a milestone year for the auctions market with transaction levels picking up and a renewed confidence from a wide range of buyers in the auction room. The speed and simplicity of auction sales is being recognised by both buyers and vendors and, with a dominant market share of 31.1% within the M25, Savills auctions is a good place to start when thinking of selling your property at auction.

As our map of 2013 auctions transactions highlights, our London and Nottingham auction teams raised a total of £338,947,650 in 2013, achieving an average success rate of 88.5%. The London team made £322 million, a 17% increase since 2012, further highlighting the positive sentiment in the current market.

The auction process is transparent, cost effective and if you are selling the right sort of property you are likely to achieve the highest possible price. The room, which is made up of a myriad of different buyers, dictates the value and it is often highly competitive as auctions offer buyers the opportunity to purchase properties that rarely appear on the open market.
