Fitness club takes new Cologne premises

Fitness and leisure centre chain HealthCity International has taken new premises in Cologne, Germany, advised by international real estate advisor Savills.

Fitness and leisure centre chain HealthCity International has taken new premises in Cologne, Germany, advised by international real estate advisor Savills. The fitness company has taken 1,500 sq m of space in the central Spichern Höfen, in the city’s Belgian quarter. The landlord is Cologne real estate investor Armin Wolfgang Müller.

The new premises will see  950 sq m of office space in the Spichern Halle building converted into training space with an additional 550 sq m extending into the adjacent building at Bismarckstraße 28. HealthCity Germany will  take occupancy on 30 January, 2014.

Danijel Dzerek, in Savills Cologne office agency team, says: “The Belgian quarter is a key location in the city and we are delighted to have found these premises for HealthCity. The floor-to-ceiling windows and modern design of the Spichern Halle make it an ideal building for a fitness business combining great architecture, aesthetics, quality and location.”

According to the latest research by Savills take-up in the Cologne office market reached 270,000 sq m in 2013, up from 235,000 sq m (+14.9%). The firm notes that average office rents in the city increased year-on-year by 14.3% to €12,80 per sq m in 2013 with top rents rising to €22.50 per sq m, representing a rise of 5.6% against 2012.
